Black Friday Is A Day For The Bulls - The Business Insider Posted: 26 Nov 2009 04:50 AM PST
The Dow has gone up only 47.6% of the time, but who looks at the flawed Dow index these days. Looking to December, the S&P500, Nasdaq, and Dow historically rose 1.7%, 1.9%, and 1.7% respectively on average during this final month. Yet in a post election-year they've barely broken even on average, rising just 0.3%, 0.2%, and 0.8%. Regardless, for many the trading year has probably already ended. No need to push one's luck after the stock market rally we've seen to date. Happy Thanksgiving. Steelers don't have most titles in NFL history - CBS Sports Posted: 26 Nov 2009 03:24 AM PST How can anyone tell you're kidding there? Because I said this just get a rise out of you. "Not to me. It just matters to those teams that haven't won a Super Bowl." I mean, come on. Football is entertainment. It's not so serious. If you'd rather just be another mindless lemming following your fellows off a cliff, go ahead. Off a cliff? Little dramatic? And I am thinking for myself. I don't agree with you. Therefore, I must be ignorant right? Obviously there are things more important than football. That's my point. If I'm supposed to give a crap about stuff that happened before my father was even born, it's not gonna be football. I appreciate NFL history, but bringing up the 30s and 40s is pushing it. This is 2009. I'm sure those titles mean something to fans of those teams. Green Bay, the Giants, Browns, etc. can be proud of their heritage, but I am not a fan of those teams. They do not mean as much to me. Subjective. Every week somebody discredit the 70s Steelers' Super Bowls and throws in "steroids" just for spite, but somehow I'm supposed to recognize titles from 60 and 70 years ago? Fine. I'm sure those titles are legit and are printed in the sports almanacs. But I still don't care about them. This is a "what have you done lately" league.
